Kitchen updates
Cabinets, countertops, backsplash, hardware, paint. The sink and the range stay where they are.
Bath updates
Vanity, tile, flooring, paint, and fixtures swapped where they already sit.
Carpentry, doors and trim
Doors that stick, trim that never got finished, and the punch list you stopped looking at.
Flooring
Tile, vinyl plank, and wood, set straight and finished clean at the doorways.
Decks
Board and rail replacement, resurfacing a deck whose frame is still sound, and new decks at ground level.
Repairs and upkeep
The small stuff that’s been waiting, and the maintenance a Florida house needs to stay ahead of the weather.
What we don’t take: additions, whole-house projects, roofing, and decks that are elevated or attached to the house. If that’s your project, tell us anyway. You’ll get a straight no and a pointer toward somebody else, which beats finding out three weeks in.

Powers Construction is a family business, run by Ricky Powers. He grew up on a farm fixing whatever needed fixing, served in the Army, and has run his own crews for 30+ years. We’re based in Brandon, our name is on every job, and that’s exactly why we do it right.

- What areas do you work in?
- We're based in Brandon and work across the greater Tampa Bay area: Tampa, St. Petersburg, Clearwater, Riverview, Wesley Chapel, Carrollwood, Largo, and most of Hillsborough and Pinellas counties. If your house sits a little outside that, ask anyway. If we're not the right crew for your address, we'll tell you straight.
- What kind of work do you take on?
- Kitchen and bath updates, carpentry, doors, flooring, decks, and the repairs and upkeep a Florida house needs. We don't take additions, whole-house projects, or roofing, and we don't build elevated or attached decks. Tell us what you've got either way. If it isn't ours, you'll get a straight no and a pointer toward somebody else, which beats finding out three weeks in.
- Who's actually going to be in my house?
- Ricky Powers and the crew he runs. He's had his own crews for 30+ years and he walks every job himself, so you're not handed off to a salesman you never see again. The same crew that pulls your old cabinets is the one that sets the new ones and cleans up on the last day.
- What does a kitchen or bath update cost?
- Nobody can give you a real number before they've stood in your room, and anyone who does is guessing. We don't print a range here either, because we can't show you where a range would come from and an untraceable number is no help to you. What moves the price is the cabinets first, then the counters, then whether anything moves, then what turns up behind the old ones. - How long does a kitchen update take?
- Longer than a weekend and shorter than people fear, and the honest answer is that the cabinets set the schedule, not the hammering. Stock cabinets land fast. Custom and semi-custom take a good deal longer, and that lead time is usually the single biggest block on the calendar. We order first and swing the hammer second, so you're not living around a delivery date. I'm not going to print a week count here, because the one that was here wasn't sourced to anything and a schedule promise is exactly the kind of number that gets quoted back to you. - Will my project need a permit?
- Some work needs one and some doesn't, and your county or city draws that line, not us. Tampa, unincorporated Hillsborough, St. Petersburg, and Clearwater each run their own building department, so confirm the specifics for your address before you count on anything.
